Horizons Youth Services provides an opportunity for young people to grow and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities by focusing on the development of skills that unleash the potential in them to become productive citizens.

Horizons Youth Services, which began in 1983, has developed and operated many innovative youth programs, including leadership development and leadership training programs. Twice a year, Horizons conducts its SGA Leadership Conferences for student representatives from regional Job Corps centers. Horizons has also been providing Job Corps Center operations for the U.S. Department of Labor.

Horizons Youth Services is operating the Muhlenberg Career Development Center in Greenville, Kentucky, the Sacramento Job Corps Center in Sacramento, California, the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and the Charleston Job Corps Center in Charleston, West Virginia.

Academic Olympics team from Perkins finishes 3rd in regional competition 
The Academic Olympics team from Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center finished third in the regional Academic Olympics competition held in October in Ocean City, Md. This is the third year that the Perkins team has won the district championship and advanced on to regional competition.

HYS has taken a leadership role in English Language Learner curriculum development by becoming the first Job Corps operator in the nation to develop its own ELL guides.

Perkins grad among elite 12 selected for solar energy Advanced Training 
Carl D. Perkins Job Corps graduate Matthew Marsingill is among an elite group of 12 students selected nationwide for the new solar energy Advanced Training at Treasure Island Job Corps Center in San Francisco.
Six MCDC Medical Cluster grads enter same Advanced Training program 
Six Muhlenberg Career Development Center Medical Cluster graduates have entered the advanced training program for Certified Clinical Medical Assistant at Keystone Job Corps Center, the most from a single graduating class to pursue the same Advanced Training program.
HYS awarded subcontract for Turner JCC programs 
Horizons Youth Services has been awarded a subcontract to operate various programs at the Turner Job Corps Center in Albany, Ga. HYS will subcontract with center operator Educational and Training Resources to provide the Academic Training Program and all aspects of the Career Preparation Period (CPP), which includes the Career Preparation Program, CPP counselors and CPP Independent Living/Dormitory programs. The HYS contract began May 1.
HYS named NJCA 2010 Operator of the Year 
Horizons Youth Services was named the National Job Corps Association's 2010 Operator of the Year, the highest honor given by the NJCA to Job Corps contractors, at the NJCA 2011 Policy Forum. The forum ran Feb. 1-4 in Washington, D.C.
