Summary:
Responsible for delivering counseling services to assigned residential and non-residential students in personal and social development, career employment, and behavior. Provides individual and group counseling and crisis intervention to all students.
- Contact assigned students prior to scheduled arrival to welcome them, and provide information about the center, reiterating behavioral standards.
- Meet and greet assigned arrivals at the designated time on the center or at the determined travel termination point, as assigned. Conduct and document an intake assessment, including student history, during the first 48 hours of enrollment. A copy of this assessment will be submitted to the Health and Wellness center for review and inclusion in the student health record.
- Provide ongoing structured, scheduled, and documented individual social development and adjustment counseling weekly.
- Document sessions in case notes.
- Schedule and conduct monthly group support sessions designed to identify and address specific issues, such as abuse, relationships, childcare, homesickness, language and cultural barriers, etc. Identify students who need more intensive services and referral to such services, ensuring intervention, implementation, and documentation of strategies to address
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree including 15 semester hours of instruction in social services-related instruction and 1 year experience in counseling or related field. Valid drivers’ license.
